Sriperumbudur–Oragadam Electronics Belt
India’s densest electronics-assembly belt sits within ~50 km of two major ports and an international cargo airport — the test of whether gateway proximity is already priced in.
Techadyant indicators
Scores are shown only when evidenced inputs cover at least 70% of the weight; otherwise they read Insufficient Data.
Requirement profile: electronics assembly.
Supplier gap and localisation feasibility depend on the SCCS supplier mapping; demand ramp is only partly sourced.
Export relevance and graph centrality are not yet computed consistently across nodes; four-node rankings would be false precision.
Strategic overview
Samsung has manufactured at Sriperumbudur since 2007, and Foxconn runs an Apple-supplier SEZ plant in the SIPCOT Sriperumbudur park; a November 2024 proposal sought to expand it by 20,000 jobs. In June 2025 Foxconn was reported to be building an iPhone enclosure unit next to a display-module plant in an advanced stage of construction, in the industrial park where it holds about 500,000 sq ft at ESR Oragadam.
The belt lies roughly 25 km straight-line from Chennai’s international cargo airport and about 40 km and 50 km from Chennai Port and Kamarajar Port, both major ports. The dedicated freight corridors do not reach South India.
Techadyant’s reading: Sriperumbudur–Oragadam is gateway-rich and component-poor. The questions here are not about distance. They are about depth: whether display, enclosure and moulding capacity grows fast enough locally to cut the inbound component flow that now arrives by air and sea.
