How the industrial-node scores work
No score without a method, and no method without its missing-data rule. Unknown inputs are treated as missing, never as zero.
Shared rules
- Score = weighted mean of evidenced components × 100, rounded to the nearest 5. Components without evidence are excluded from the mean and counted against completeness.
- If evidenced components carry less than 70% of the weight, the score reads Insufficient Data.
- Confidence is the lower of a completeness tier (≥90% high, ≥80% medium) and an evidence tier (share of weight resting on high- vs low-confidence inputs).
- Distances are great-circle (straight-line) between approximate coordinates, rounded to 5 km and banded; road distances appear only when a source states them.
- Every dossier separates Fact, Techadyant analysis, Techadyant score and Opportunity surface.
- Data is dated (“Data verified: Month Year”). Nothing here is real-time.
Industrial Connectivity Score (ICS) Computed
How well is this node physically connected to the national freight, gateway and logistics network?
| Component | Weight | Rule / input |
|---|---|---|
| Road | 20 | 1.0 expressway · 0.8 expressway on trial · 0.6 national highway · 0.3 state highway only |
| Rail | 20 | 1.0 DFC station ≤ 25 km · 0.6 mainline station with goods handling · 0.5 broad-gauge line, goods handling not documented · 0.3 new line approved |
| Seaport | 20 | straight-line to nearest registered gateway port: ≤150 km 1.0 · ≤300 0.7 · ≤500 0.4 · >500 0.15 |
| Airport (cargo) | 20 | straight-line to nearest operational international cargo airport: ≤50 km 1.0 · ≤100 0.7 · ≤200 0.4 · >200 0.15 |
| Logistics node | 10 | operational MMLP/ICD/MMLH ≤50 km 1.0 · under construction ≤50 km or operational ≤150 km 0.5 |
| Freight corridor | 10 | operational DFC ≤50 km 1.0 · ≤150 km 0.5 · evidenced >150 km 0.0 |
Supply Chain Connectivity Score (SCCS) Computed
How efficiently can the node’s critical inputs and outputs move?
| Component | Weight | Rule / input |
|---|---|---|
| Supplier proximity | 25 | mean over the profile’s critical input categories: operating supplier ≤300 km 1.0 · operating in-state, distance undocumented 0.5 · planned/MoU ≤300 km 0.25 · none documented 0 |
| Import-gateway access | 20 | ICS seaport and airport values weighted by the inbound mix (fab 50/50 · backend 40/60 · electronics assembly 50/50 sea/air) |
| Export-gateway access | 20 | ICS seaport and airport values weighted by the outbound mix (fab 30/70 · backend 10/90 · electronics assembly 40/60 sea/air) |
| Multimodal access | 15 | share of four modes in usable reach: road ≥0.6, rail ≥0.6, air ≥0.7, sea ≥0.7 (ICS values; an unknown mode counts as not in reach) |
| Freight infrastructure | 20 | the higher of the ICS freight-corridor and logistics-node values |
Connectivity Gap Index (CGI) Computed
How far does available infrastructure fall short of what the anchor industry needs? High = large gap (constraint and opportunity).
| Requirement | Fab weight | Backend (OSAT) weight | Electronics assembly weight |
|---|---|---|---|
| Air cargo (time-critical, high-value) | 20 | 30 | 25 |
| Power reliability | 20 | 20 | 15 |
| Industrial water | 20 | 10 | 5 |
| Seaport access (bulk chemicals, gases, equipment) | 15 | 15 | 25 |
| Specialised warehousing (bonded, ESD, climate-controlled) | 10 | 15 | 15 |
| Multimodal integration (rail–road–air) | 15 | 10 | 15 |
Each requirement is assessed met (0), partial (0.5), gap (1) or unknown (missing). High CGI means a large gap — a constraint and, often, an opportunity.
Industrial Opportunity Score (IOS) Defined — not yet computed
How much industrial opportunity is a change likely to open at this node?
| Component | Weight | Rule / input |
|---|---|---|
| Infrastructure investment trigger | 20 | sourced projects affecting the node |
| Demand growth | 15 | sourced anchor capacity ramp |
| Import dependency of inputs | 20 | Atlas grid status for the anchor ecosystem |
| Supplier gap | 15 | critical input categories with no supplier ≤ 300 km |
| Localisation feasibility | 10 | analyst rubric: capex, IP barrier, volume |
| Logistics improvement | 10 | ICS delta from projects completing ≤ 3 yrs |
| Policy support | 10 | sourced scheme coverage |
Why not computed yet: Supplier gap and localisation feasibility depend on the SCCS supplier mapping; demand ramp is only partly sourced.
Strategic Node Score (SNS) Defined — not yet computed
How important is this location to India’s industrial network?
| Component | Weight | Rule / input |
|---|---|---|
| Sector concentration | 20 | approved/operating units in strategic sectors |
| Strategic industry presence | 20 | ISM / defence / critical-mineral designations |
| Transport convergence | 15 | operational modes (from ICS) |
| Supply-chain centrality | 15 | degree / betweenness in the Atlas graph |
| Export relevance | 10 | sourced export share or designation |
| Infrastructure investment | 10 | sum of sourced project costs |
| National strategic designation | 10 | NICDP node, SIR, defence corridor, etc. |
Why not computed yet: Export relevance and graph centrality are not yet computed consistently across nodes; four-node rankings would be false precision.
Distance bands (ICS)
| Component | Bands (straight-line km → value) |
|---|---|
| port | ≤150 → 1 · ≤300 → 0.7 · ≤500 → 0.4 · >500 → 0.15 |
| airport | ≤50 → 1 · ≤100 → 0.7 · ≤200 → 0.4 · >200 → 0.15 |
| logistics | ≤50 → 1 · ≤150 → 0.5 · >150 → 0 |
| freight corridor | ≤50 → 1 · ≤150 → 0.5 · >150 → 0 |

| Union Minister of Commerce and Industry launches 'PM GatiShakti Public' platform to democratize access to geospatial and infrastructure data | self registration; API unknown; download unknown | No licence published; redistribution not stated | Context only. 230 approved non-sensitive NMP datasets are available by self-registration with authentication; no licence or redistribution terms are published in the release, so no PM GatiShakti dataset is ingested, scraped or republished. Techadyant records only derived relationships sourced elsewhere. |
| PM GatiShakti National Master Plan portal | restricted; API unknown; download unknown | No licence published; redistribution not stated | Reference only. The NMP is a government planning system; public access is via PM GatiShakti Public (self-registration). Not ingested. |
| 76 firms ink non-disclosure agreement with government to use ULIP data | nda gated; API registered; download none | No licence published; redistribution not stated | Not used. ULIP access requires registration, a use-case review and an NDA (as reported); NDA-gated data is incompatible with public redistribution. |
| Cabinet approves setting up of Integrated Transport & Logistics Authority | unknown; API unknown; download unknown | No licence published; redistribution not stated | Institutional record only. No ITLA dataset exists publicly yet; the Atlas holds a schema placeholder (itla.json) for datasets the Cabinet text names. |
