India Approves a Rs 10,000 Crore SME Equity Fund and a New Logistics Authority

Signal

On 6 October 2026 the Union Cabinet cleared two separate decisions: a Rs 10,000 crore SME Growth Fund that takes direct equity in small and medium enterprises, and an Integrated Transport & Logistics Authority to plan, appraise and monitor transport infrastructure and run a national freight-data layer. Read together they are a capital lever and a coordination lever aimed at the same goal. Both are institutional decisions, not spending or procurement, and the outcomes depend on execution that has not happened yet.
