Coal India Puts Critical Minerals and Advanced Materials on Its Diversification Map

An official Ministry of Coal release dated 20 September 2026 organises Coal India's diversification around five platforms - coal gasification and coal-to-chemicals, thermal power, renewables and storage, critical minerals and advanced materials, and diversified minerals including iron ore - formally elevating critical minerals and advanced materials to a named business platform. It follows CIL's overseas critical-mineral push (Signal S-072) and signals that domestic industrial capacity, not only resource rights, is entering the frame.
