Why it matters for India

IAF has not publicly selected or contracted the A400M. Atlas records it as a comparative reference platform: the strategic competitor to the C-390 at the upper end of the medium/heavy category, and a candidate for any future Indian heavy-lift requirement. The A400M's TP400-D6 engine and the Airbus-led avionics integration represent the upper bound of the dependency landscape that any future deeper Indian industrial engagement with Airbus would have to address.

Indian production status

None. No Indian manufacturing. Atlas labels the A400M as `not applicable` for Indian production.
