Mediterranean Shipping Company (MSC), the world's largest container carrier, has moved its first import shipment through the newly launched Adani ICD Malur near Bengaluru, arriving as a full train rake of containers - an operational milestone for both MSC and Adani Logistics. The facility sits on the Bengaluru-Chennai railway trunk line, with a dedicated rail siding plus road access via NE7 and NH44; it spans around 30 acres, with a further 21 acres earmarked for expansion, and includes terminal and gate operating systems, real-time control-tower capabilities, warehousing and customs infrastructure.

The strategic significance lies in the shift from port-centric cargo movement towards integrated port-rail-road-inland-terminal networks. Bengaluru's manufacturing, automotive, electronics, aerospace and technology base generates substantial import and export demand.
