What It Is

Mahindra Aerospace is the Mahindra Group's aerospace manufacturing arm, founded in 2010 (the Group entered aerospace in 2009 with the simultaneous acquisition of majority stakes in two Australian companies — GippsAero (GA8 Airvan manufacturer) and Aerostaff Australia). Mahindra Aerospace was the first Indian private firm to make smaller civil aircraft. Its subsidiary Mahindra Aerostructures Pvt Ltd operates a 25,000 sq.m metallic aerostructures fabrication facility near Bengaluru. Mahindra Aerostructures secured a major contract from Airbus Helicopters on 9 April 2025 to manufacture the main fuselage assembly of the H130 helicopter (shipped to Airbus Helicopters' final assembly line in Marignane, France); followed by the H125 fuselage contract announced 28 August 2025 (in addition to the H130 contract). On 27 October 2025, Mahindra Group formed a strategic alliance with Brazil's Embraer to introduce the C-390 Millennium military transport aircraft to India with local manufacturing, assembly, supply chain and engineering. Mahindra exited the GA8 Airvan programme in November 2023 when GippsAero co-founder George Morgan re-purchased the company. In August 2026, parent Mahindra Defence Systems Ltd incorporated Novavayu Aerospace (30 July 2026) as wholly-owned subsidiary for aircraft manufacturing.
