The Union Budget 2026-27 (1 February 2026) announced “an integrated East Coast Industrial Corridor with a well-connected node at Durgapur” — extending the ECIC chain, of which VCIC is the first phase and the OEC the northernmost stretch, into West Bengal.

Implementation has moved from speech to procurement: a NICDC notice dated 6 May 2026 seeks consultants for node development in the Durgapur region. No SHA/SSA, SPV, land parcel or funding exists yet, so the node sits at the very start of the pipeline — scored only when an SPV event materialises.

What this node pulls — supplier opportunity surface

Logistics & multi-modal

A multi-modal hub pulls handling, storage and automation infrastructure plus the telematics and compliance layer around it.

Steel & metals

A metals anchor pulls industrial gases, refractories, rolling consumables and heavy lifting - mature demand, capital-light service openings.

Indicative opportunity surface derived from the node's sector profile and Techadyant sector-level research (import-dependency figures from the Dholera supplier workbook and cross-report modelling). Not node-specific verified commitments — verify each layer against current tenders and anchor statements before acting. Entry tiers: Build-now (capital-light, local base exists), Position-early (gap to close), Watch (long-horizon, high-IP).
