Delhi (northern gateway)
Delhi / NCR is the documented northern anchor of the proposed Delhi–Nagpur Industrial Corridor (DNIC), the eleventh corridor under India’s National Industrial Corridor Development Programme. It is shown here as an influence-area terminus, not as a notified greenfield node — as of June 2026 no DNIC node has been identified anywhere along the corridor, including at the Delhi end.
The corridor is at its earliest phase: the perspective-plan stage. NICDC has appointed a consultant to assess feasibility, delineate the region across five states (Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh and Maharashtra), identify suitable nodes and recommend early-bird projects. There is no SPV, no acquired land and no CCEA approval.
What anchors Delhi’s role is geography rather than any committed project: the North–South DFC alignment and the NH-44 highway backbone make NCR the natural northern origin, and the perspective plan is tasked with assessing how the dense existing NCR–Rajasthan industrial base might integrate into the corridor once nodes are defined.

- Conceptualised along the North–South Corridor of the Dedicated Freight Corridor (DFC, under development) and the NH-44 / North–South Corridor of the NHDP highway backbone — the spine that gives Delhi its role as the corridor’s northern terminus.
- The perspective plan is to assess integration with the NCR’s existing industrial base for potential corridor linkage: the Noida–Greater Noida electronics, IT, auto-component and apparel cluster in Gautam Buddh Nagar, Ghaziabad’s engineering belt, and the Bharatpur–Alwar (Bhiwadi–Neemrana–Khushkhera) auto-component and electronics belt just south in Rajasthan.

Perspective-plan status
The DNIC is in the perspective-plan stage — the earliest phase of corridor development. No industrial nodes have been identified, no special-purpose vehicle has been formed and no land has been acquired anywhere along the corridor, the Delhi terminus included.
NICDC has appointed a consultant under a Request for Qualification cum Request for Proposal to prepare the perspective plan for the overall DNIC region. Until that plan recommends nodes and those nodes are approved, there is no DNIC project on the ground at Delhi — only an influence-area role defined by the corridor’s northern origin.
Scope of the consultant’s brief
The consultant’s terms of reference cover a 20-year regional perspective plan: assessing the feasibility of establishing the DNIC, delineating the corridor and its influence area across the five states, identifying suitable nodes with techno-economic feasibility studies and early-bird projects, and analysing the benefits for regional growth, employment, industrial output and exports.
For the Delhi end specifically, the relevant work is the regional assessment — profiling NCR’s industrial hubs (Noida–Greater Noida, Ghaziabad) and the adjacent Bhiwadi–Neemrana belt, urbanisation and migration trends, MSME and skills gaps — to determine whether and where a node at the corridor’s northern origin is justified.
What to watch
The key open question is whether the perspective plan has been completed: the consultant’s assignment ran six months from a 2021 start, so the timeline has long passed, but no completed plan or node announcement has surfaced in the public record.
The signals that would move Delhi from influence-area terminus to a live node are: publication of the perspective plan, identification of an early-bird node near NCR, formation of a DNIC SPV, and confirmation of the North–South DFC progress on which the corridor’s logistics case depends.
